Pat Petrillo is a great guy and so helpful and easy to talk too. He was debuting his new P4 practice pad, put out by Ludwig. This new one is great!! You guys need to get one if you don’t have one. But, Pat is a great teacher and instructor at the Collective in New York. Check out his video Hands, Grooves, and Fills on Hudson. It is a great resource to supplement what the GrooveisKing.com Training System is all about.

Wow, what a nice guy, and full of contagious energy. Stanton was just amazing to interview. He was totally into the concepts we are teaching here at grooveisking.com

He really put into perspective that never is he called for his FILLS, but for his GROOVES. What kind of grooves do you know, not how many fills can you play. John Humphrey:

John is one of those guys that appearances don’t make the man. Just as nice as you will find and willingly desired to communicate to the guys out there playing his style of music, that being solid and a good timekeeper is HUGE!!

Although John has a well-balanced showmanship about him, he never loses sight of what his job is, Groove, Feel, and time! Check it out from him directly.

Alright, we all have heard of John Blackwell, his famous stick tricks, super fast fills, his opened handed style, and his high profile resume.

But, one of the things we haven’t heard John talk about till now, is what he finds to be the most important thing in drumming. His words, “If you can’t focus on 2 and 4, then you don’t need to be a drummer”. He talks about this in his new video from Hudson Music, John Blackwell Master series as well.

But he was kind enough to confirm those same concepts and principles we teach here at Grooveisking.com in this video check it out. AND, don’t forget to do what he says in the video at the end ….;-)

I attended NAMM 2009 this year and was able to confirm my whole premise for starting GrooveisKing.com. This became more evident through the people I met, and most importantly some of the great drummers of our time.

One of those was Bernard Purdie. His playing echoes through the ears of generations past and present. His relaxed but confident style is one of the reasons I most respect him as a player. Listen to this video to get his take on what he thinks are the keys to being successful in the modern world of pop music.

Training Module 11 is one that although short, if taken seriously can totally change the way you practice and play drums. This one gets you to take an honest look at how you critique yourself.
